'Gorkha' party to boycott polls in Darjeeling

The Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) has announced that it will boycott the upcoming national polls. The GNLF Organisation, under the under the leadership of Subhash Ghising, initiated an agitation in 1980 demanding a separate state to be carved out of West Bengal state, but dropped the demand after New Delhi agreed to confer partial autonomy in 1988 for the Nepalese-speaking people under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
