Govt eyes Buddhist tourism potential in Kashmir

In a bid to attract more tourists and cash inflow, the tourism department in Srinagar is all set to regenerate Buddhist sites in the state. The department has already sent a plan to Archaeological Survey of India, proposing to install basic facilities at these sites. Places like Parihaspora, Harwan and Kanispura-Ushkura in the Kashmir valley still have ruins of Buddhist monasteries; stupas, drawings and teachings engraved on pillars are still there.
