Govt lifts ban on export of basmati rice in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir government's decision to lift a ban on export of famous basmati rice has given a new lease of life to the state's paddy growers who were anticipating huge losses due to scanty monsoon rain this year. The lifting of ban is expected to benefit about 36,000 farmers in Jammu district.
