India confirms first H1N1 death

India's health minister on Monday confirmed the country's first death from the H1N1 flu in Pune. The victim, a 14-year-old girl, was admitted to a hospital last month with symptoms of sore throat, runny nose and headaches, a government statement said. She was put on a ventilator after her condition deteriorated. Confirming the death, India's Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the teenager's life could have been saved but for proper diagnosis.
