Kantha stitches lives of rural women in West Bengal
Women in rural hinterland of West Bengal are becoming self reliant by making Kantha, a kind of traditional embroidery. The revival of Kantha in Bengal is the brainchild of Shamlu Dudeja, who brought Kantha out of the rural households in the 80s. An initiative by the central government under the National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme, this self help group set up Dudeja is acting as blessing for many rural women.
