Manipur reels under floods

Floods wreaked havoc in Manipur rendering thousands homeless. Incessant unseasonal rains over the past few days and overflowing rivers have damaged homes and drowned large swathes of crops causing a loss worth millions of rupees. The flood situation worsened after the bank of the state's Imphal River collapsed at Thonju of east Imphal district. Army personnel have been pressed into action to rescue the stranded villagers.
