Maoist shutdown hampers business in Jharkhand

Maoist shutdown for the second consecutive day in Jharkhand on Sunday hit several markets affecting the work of many labourers as well as causing loss to many businessmen in the region. Roads and market areas wore a deserted look. Truck drivers, who hardly found commuters, lamented that they are poor and this is the only medium by which they earn a daily income. The ultras have spread into rural pockets of 20 of India's 28 states. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has termed them as India's gravest internal security threat.
