The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld death penalty of Nithari serial killer Surinder Singh Koli. Koli, the key accused in the Nithari killings, was given the death penalty for the murder of Rimpa Haldar, by the Allahabad High Court in 2009. Confirming the sentence, the Supreme Court described the killings by Koli as 'horrifying and barbaric'. The Court, however, has kept the CBI appeal against the acquittal of businessman Moninder Singh Pandher pending saying the outcome may affect the other pending cases against him.
