Opposition parties on Friday demanded Civil Aviation Ministry to monitor the abrupt increase in airfares. Domestic airlines have proposed a massive hike in airfares ignoring the government's call not to resort to exorbitant fares. On December 03 Aviation Minister Praful Patel, turned down the airlines proposal by saying that airlines will not be allowed to charge exorbitant prices. Proposal, proposed that an economy class passenger might have to pay Rs 10,500 for a Delhi-Chandigarh or Chennai-Coimbatore flight and anything up to Rs 40,000 on the Delhi-Bangalore or Delhi-Kolkata route.
