Reach out to poor, FM tell banks

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said India needed innovative technologies to help the rural regions have more access to banking facilities. After chairing a performance assessment of state-run enterprises on Saturday, Mukherjee told reporters in New Delhi that only 37 per cent of commercial banks functioned in rural areas.
