Return of senior players will hit fielding standards: Dhoni
Updated on Sep 12, 2011 04:30 PM IST
Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni while addressing a post-match news conference in London, on Sunday said that the return of senior players to the One-Day International (ODI) squad in October would deplete team's fielding performance. The Indian captain was speaking after the penultimate match of the ODI series between India and England ended in a tie. Dhoni said that this was the second time in the series that a potential India win was halted by bad weather. He said that the series loss did not in any way reduce the importance of the last match, scheduled to be played in Cardiff on Friday. India, on the strength of a 169-run partnership between Dhoni and his deputy, Suresh Raina, scored 280 after being asked to bat first by England, who won the toss. The batsmen scored 78 and 84 respectively.
