Sensex plunges 402 points

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Tuesday dipped below 13,000 points, crashing more than 402 points in opening trade on all round selling by funds as well as retail investors. Heavy sales saw the local currency drop against the US dollar, which lifted the battered IT sector. The worst performing stocks were from the banking and FMCG space.
