Suspected militants kill village council head in Kashmir

Triggering fear once again in the valley, suspected militants have gunned down the village council chief of Kalantra village in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Unknown militants opened fire at Javed Ahmed Wani, head of the village council of Kalantra village in Baramulla on Sunday night. Wani was shifted to a local hospital with serious gun shot wounds and he later succumbed to his injuries. President of the all Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Conference (AJKPC), Shafiq Mir, slammed the state government for not doing anything to ensure the safety of village council members.
