Despite receiving records for their forestland, tribals in Orissa still continue to battle for their rights over the land allotted to them in Koraput, Malkangiri and other districts of the state. After fighting a decade long struggle to receive 'pattas' (record of right), the tribals still do not enjoy their rights on the land owned by them. The 'pattas' issued to tribals do not have the basic information that are usually present in such records. Neither is the type of land mentioned, nor the area demarcation.
