Polish President Karol Nawrocki has abruptly cancelled a planned bilateral meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, limiting his December Hungary trip to the Visegrád Group summit after Orbán’s controversial Moscow visit to discuss energy ties with Vladimir Putin. Warsaw says Nawrocki is focused on “real ways” to end Russia’s war on Ukraine in a spirit of European solidarity, as Orbán openly pushes a post‑war vision in which Ukraine becomes a neutral “buffer state” between Russia and NATO.
