The Army's mechanised infantry is on a threshold of huge transformation amid rising threats. The Army has sought to equip its mechanised infantry with a range of indigenous weapons. Hindustan Times has learnt that the army wants to equip mechanised infantry with desi weapons ranging from loitering munition, night-fighting gear to anti-drone weapons. Army modernisation roadmap also includes procurement of 480 indigenous futuristic infantry vehicles (FICVS) to replace Soviet-era vehicles.
