Kapil Sibal dumps Congress party, files a Rajya Sabha nomination as an Independent candidate with backing from the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow. Sibal said that he had resigned from the party on May 16, ending his 30-year long association. Kapil Sibal is the one who had fronted the G-23 revolt against the Gandhis within the Congress and pushed for reforms. As a lawyer, Sibal has close association with the Yadav family. He fought for Akhilesh Yadav during the family feud and is also working on Mulayam Singh's disproportionate assets case. This is the third jolt for Congress in a month. Details in this report
