Rome: PM meets EU's Michel, von der Leyen on Day 1;Doval, Jaishankar present

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicks off his Italy visit by holding a top-level joint meeting with the presidents of European Commission and European Council in capital Rome. According to PM Modi, both sides held wide-ranging talks on deepening the India-EU friendship, particularly in areas such as trade, commerce, culture and the environment. The PM was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval in the joint meeting during which regional and global developments were also discussed.
