PM Modi lands C-130J on Assam highway runway, 300 km from China border: What's the real message?

PM Narendra Modi on Feb 14 inaugurated the Northeast’s first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran bypass/Dibrugarh–Moran highway stretch in Assam and marked it with a landing, as the IAF showcased operations with platforms including Rafale and Su‑30MKI. The 4.2-km upgraded highway strip—built in coordination with the IAF—is being projected as a dual-use strategic asset near the India–China frontier, supporting rapid military response as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
