Romania will be using MiG-21s for one more year, just a month after deciding to ground the Soviet-era jets. Romania shares a border with Ukraine; NATO has sent troop reinforcements & equipment to the ex-Soviet satellite state. Maintaining a high-alert status critical for Romania, the MiG-21s will be used for air policing & flight training. During the communist regime, the country had around 400 MiG-21s, the current numbers are confidential.
