Russia launches 300 drones on Ukraine as tensions rise before Trump-Putin talks

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky heads to Washington for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump over Tomahawk missiles, Russia unleashed one of its largest aerial assaults of the year. Over 300 drones and 37 missiles struck Ukrainian cities and energy facilities, including gas plants in Kharkiv and Poltava, injuring several civilians and crippling power infrastructure. Zelensky condemned the strikes as “double terror,” alleging the use of banned cluster munitions. The attacks defied Trump’s recent call for Russia to “stop killing Ukrainians,” escalating tensions ahead of the leaders’ meeting.
