Buoyed by the occasion of Australia Day, the hosts got off to the strongest start possible on day 3, with Matthew Hayden leading the way. Australia ended the morning session at 158 without loss – Hayden unbeaten on 86, while his opening partner Phil Jaques was on a solidly composed 59, on the third day of fourth and final Test at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
