Indian sprinter Dutee Chand was banned on July 18, 2014 from competing in the female category because of unusually high testosterone levels. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on July 27, 2015 suspended International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) regulations which make it ineligible for athletes with 'hyperandrogenism' to compete in the female category and allowed Chand to participate in national and international meets for a period of two years. Dutee, in an exclusive interview to Hindustan Times, speaks on rising above this difficult experience. She also adds that such restrictions have an adverse impact on the way athletes perform. Charting a way forward, Dutee also has some strong advise for all women sports enthusiasts - maintain focus on your career and discard the rest.
