Two Indian nationals recruited by the Russian Army were killed in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The MEA expressed condolences to the families and urged Russia for a prompt repatriation of their remains. Both the MEA and the Indian embassy in Moscow have strongly raised the issue with Russian authorities for the early release and return of all Indian nationals serving in the Russian Army. According to reports around 200 Indian nationals have been hired as support staff by the Russian military since last year, with many deceived into these roles by recruiting agents. Some individuals have sought help on social media to leave their jobs with the Russian Army.
