Amid increasing tensions between United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, defence ministers of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation held a meeting in Brussels. Acting Defence Secretary of USA, Mark Esper, briefed the gathering on the situation in the Gulf. US President Donald Trump recently imposed fresh sanctions, on the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei, after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard shot down a US drone. A war of words has followed, with Tehran claiming that the drone entered Iranian airspace, and Washington denying the charge.
