Transgender pastors celebrated a groundbreaking mass in the Cuban city of Matanzas. While Christians still debate the role of women in their institutions, the metropolitan community church hosted its first transgendered mass in Cuba. Three transgender pastors from Brazil, USA and Canada flew in to hold a Holy Communion in a chapel decorated with rainbow flags. The revolutionary event is a far cry from Cuba's past when homosexuality and religion were both stigmatized. The Mass was a highlight of a three-day conference on transsexuality and theology.
