Ukrainian President Zelensky paid tribute to the sacrifice of soldiers on the 500th day of the war. Visiting Snake Island, a rocky outcrop in the Black Sea, Zelensky honoured the defenders who famously refused to surrender to Russian forces on the island's first day. He laid flowers and expressed his gratitude to all the soldiers. Snake Island, overlooking sea lanes to Odesa, Ukraine's main Black Sea port, holds strategic significance. Despite Russia still holding parts of eastern and southern Ukraine, Zelensky remains confident that Ukraine will reclaim its entire territory.
