Houthi rebels claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 reaper drone on May 17. Footage circulated online showed wreckage that appeared to be of an MQ-9 drone. However, the US military did not immediately acknowledge the incident. Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree claimed that rebels shot down the Predator with a surface-to-air missile, adding that it "carried out hostile actions" in Yemen's Marib province.
