Modi-Merz bond strengthens: Disagreements acknowledged, but shared vision for Ukraine peace prevails

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz addressed the media in Ahmedabad following bilateral talks, confirming discussions on major global issues including Ukraine and Gaza. While acknowledging that India and Germany do not always agree on every issue, both leaders stressed shared values, growing strategic convergence, and deeper cooperation—particularly in the Indo-Pacific and Global South. The visit marked a major step forward in India–Germany ties, with 27 declarations of intent signed across sectors such as defence, rare earths, healthcare, and security policy.
