Texas synagogue hostages freed; gunman wanting Pakistani terrorist freed killed

A man, demanding release of a convicted terrorist, had taken several captive at a Texas synagogue. He demanded the release of a Pakistan scientist, Aafia Siddiqui, who was convicted of trying to kill US Army officers in Afghanistan. One of the four hostages held at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville was released during the standoff. Three others were rescued when authorities entered the building and the hostage taker was killed. US President Joe Biden had also been briefed on the hostage situation, according to the White House. “Let me be clear to anyone who intends to spread hate—we will stand against anti-Semitism and against the rise of extremism in this country,’ said Biden in a statement.
