British pop superstar George Michael, who reached early stardom with Wham! in the 80s before going on to a successful solo career of his own, died Sunday. Lauded by many in the industry as a serious singer/songwriter with powerful vocals and expressive range, Michael sold well over 100 million albums worldwide and won numerous Grammys and American music awards. His manager said the singer was not ill and likely died of heart failure. Michael died at home in Goring, England. He was 53 years old.
