Pakistan witnessed a violent start to the general elections on February 18, as blast hits a polling booth in Swat Valley. Some 81,000 soldiers are patrolling streets and guarding polling stations across the south Asian nation for 81 million voters to cast their ballots. In the federal capital of Islamabad, police have maintained tight security around the Election Commission building.
