Watch | Traditional academics clubbed with vocational training

It's not your grandfather's shop class. A new approach to career training combines vocational instruction with traditional academics in the high school curriculum to prepare all students for either jobs or college. Together, students are getting the experience of learning about career opportunities in the particular region where we live and they're also really getting the core academic program – the rigor that they need to satisfy college admissions. Earlier people didn't even know how to get into college, let alone pursuing a particular career. If they had the mentors that are in this program, that would have helped everyone tremendously
