Former India cricketer Murali Kartik has backed Shubman Gill ahead of India’s tour of Sri Lanka, saying he is not worried about the India captain’s ability to score runs. Kartik described Gill as a “class act” and said he would find a way to contribute with the bat.
However, Kartik stressed that Gill’s fitness remains a bigger concern, pointing to the batter’s recent injury and niggle issues. He said a player needs to feel completely fit to perform at 100 per cent and expressed hope that Gill can remain healthy throughout the series.
