Despite the couple's claims, including accusations of racism within the family, the royals have been advised not to stoop to Harry and Meghan's level.

After their exit from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan publicly aired their grievances in a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan addressed rumors, stating that it was actually Kate Middleton who made her cry before her wedding. Prince Harry revealed that his father, Prince Charles, had cut him off financially and stopped taking his calls after their move to the U.S. The most serious allegation was that an unnamed royal had concerns about the colour of their son's skin.

In response to these claims, the Palace issued a statement expressing concern, especially regarding the issue of race. However, commentator Dr. Ed Owens emphasized the importance of the royal family not responding to what he called "low-blow" attacks. He stated, “All they can do is carry on in a dignified manner. Responding to Harry and Meghan is only going to increase the sensationalism around the stories. They've got to maintain a distance and a dignified silence, however difficult that might be.”

Historian Katie Nicholl revealed that Prince Charles initially considered addressing the allegations point by point but opted for a shorter statement to avoid further damage. Dr. Owens emphasized that the royal family must not validate Harry and Meghan’s claims by behaving in a manner that proves them true. Instead, they should maintain their composure and dignity in the face of scrutiny.

As the public watches closely, the royal family's response will undoubtedly shape public opinion. By adhering to a dignified silence, they may not only protect their reputation but also uphold the integrity of the monarchy amidst ongoing challenges.
