LSU shooting reports: Alert says shots fired near Law Center, police probing
LSU alerted students of reported shots near the Law Center during the Tigers-Gators game; police are investigating and urged the community to avoid the area.
Louisiana State University sent out an alert to the community saying police are investigating reports of shots fired near the Law Center on Saturday afternoon. The alert came as the LSU Tigers were playing the Florida Gators at the Tigers Stadium inside the LSU campus.
As of now, Louisiana State University Police Department (LSUPD) are yet to confirm if shots were fired, as they investigate the reports. The university community has been asked to avoid the area.
The alert read: “LSUPD- Officers investigating report of shots fired near the Law Center. Avoid the area."
As of now, there has been no reports of injuries.
LSU issued a follow-up on the situation, saying that the police probe is still on but there is no threat to the campus.
"LSUPD is still investigating the report of shots fired near the law center," the alert read. “There is no current threat to campus. Please continue to avoid the area and monitor emergency texts and emails for additional updates.”
The LSU main campus is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, along the Mississippi River, about 3 miles south of downtown.
