Super Tuesday 2024: Delegates Tracker shows Joe Biden 1,312, Donald Trump 936

CNN and NBC News predict Joe Biden's victory in the Iowa Democratic mail-in caucus, after finishing fourth in the state four years ago, securing all 40 state delegates.

Initial exit poll results from CNN indicate that nearly two-thirds of Republican primary voters in North Carolina would still deem former President Donald Trump suitable for the presidency even if he were convicted of a crime. In Virginia, just over half of the GOP primary voters share this sentiment.

The issue of gerrymandering has been a persistent challenge in US elections, with district lines often drawn to benefit a specific political party.

This issue was notable in Alabama, where the US Supreme Court disapproved of the electoral map proposed by the state legislature. The court found that the map was designed to weaken the influence of African-American voters.

Such actions were deemed contrary to the Voting Rights Act, which aims to safeguard the electoral power of minority groups. The Supreme Court’s ruling came unexpectedly and was celebrated as a significant victory.

In North Carolina, Super Tuesday is unfolding with new voting regulations in place.

Election authorities report that the process is proceeding without issues in this pivotal state.

This primary is notable as it’s the first time voters statewide must present a photo ID to vote. According to Karen Brinson Bell, the executive director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections, it seems the majority of voters were well-informed about this change.

On Tuesday, Karen Brinson Bell mentioned to the press that out of approximately 695,000 early voters, only 216 had to submit provisional ballots due to “reasons related to photo ID requirements.”

Ex-US President Donald Trump said North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum would "do a great job" as his vice president.

On being asked by Scott Hennen of radio WZFG in Fargo, North Dakota, if Burgum is on his list of VP, Trump didn't reject the possibility and said: “Well, you know, I could say that".

In an interview with Fox News, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley targetted Donald Trump and stressed on the importance of winning the Super Tuesday. “This is about winning elections so that we can get our country back on track," she said.

“We can’t do that if we don’t win. And we can’t win with Donald Trump at the top of the ticket,” Haley added.

Later, she also shared a tweet, thanking her supporters for their staunch support.

On being asked why Joe Biden relies on pre-written note-cards, White House Press Secretary responded, saying “you are upset because president has note-cards. You are asking me about note-cards.” She went on to hail Biden for having one of the "most successful" administration in the first three years of presidency than what most presidents had in two-terms.

Arizona senator Kyrsten Sinema on Tuesday announced that she will not seek reelection. She has planned to take a retirement at the end of her term this year.

“I love Arizona and I am so proud of what we’ve delivered,” an Arizona independent said in a video posted to on X.

“Because I choose civility, understanding, listening, working together to get stuff done, I will leave the Senate at the end of this year,” she added.

As Super Bowl is underway, Texas authorities have allowed voters heading to cast their ballots to take public transportation for free.

Some of transit agencies that are offering free rides include Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Northern Dallas-Fort Worth's Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA), Dallas-Fort Worth's Trinity Metro, Houston-area Metro, among others.

Donald Trump is ahead of Joe Biden in Iowa by 15 points in a possible November re-match.

According to the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa survey released on Tuesday, Trump has approximately 48 percent of Hawkeye State voters' support, while Biden has a share of 33 percent.

Trump's 15-point lead is roughly double his margin of victory over Biden in the 2020 election, which was 8 percent.

As Super Tuesday is underway, as many as 29 million Americans are required to show photo identification if they cast their ballots today. In 2020, eight states made it mandatory to have voter ID card to vote. These states were Arkansas, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio and Wyoming.

According to NBC News, people living in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin need to follow the new ID requirements.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sander asserted she is confident that Donald Trump will win the Republican nomination and get re-elected to the White House this November.

Speaking to reporters, the former Trump press secretary said: "This is a head to head matchup at this point between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, and he’s the clear favorite, has all the momentum, and I feel really good about him winning again in November."

Amid the Meta outage, senior officer at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said that the US see no threat to the elections on Super Tuesday.

"We do not have any specific or credible threats to today's election operations. We continue to provide around-the-clock support to election infrastructure partners across the country, and we stand ready to assist with any security related issues that may arise," the official stated in a press conference.

With Super Tuesday in progress, Republican candidate Nikki Haley's sends out a message, focusing on her rival Donald Trump's drag on GOPs in the 2018, 2020, and 2022 elections. A video that Haley has shared on social media platform X, highlights Trump's comments suggesting he would push Russia to invade NATO members. he can be also heard saying immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country" and labeling his political opponents as "vermin."
