The incident took place at a plant located off near the border city of Reynosa in northeastern state of Tamaulipas.
"Petroleos Mexicanos regrets to report that at this moment the death of 10 people has been confirmed due to this accident," a company statement said.
The fire, which broke out at 10:45 am (1545 GMT), also damaged a pipeline and control valves of the gas reception facility.
