Ten militants were killed when the forces pounded four rebel hideouts in Aurakzai Agency. Meanwhile, authorities in the Khyber Agency clamped a curfew in the Landi Kotal area near the border with Afghanistan after warnings from militant commanders that they would carry out more attacks if the movement of NATO supply convoys through the region is not stopped. The curfew will be in force between 9 pm and 7 am, officials said. A strategic highway passing through Khyber Agency is the main route for transporting supplies to US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

In recent months, Taliban militants have targeted the supply convoys and terminals used by them in Peshawar, destroying hundreds of vehicles.
