Algiers bomb attacks work of Al-Qaeda: minister

Algerian Interior Minister Yazid Zerhouni blamed Tuesday's car bomb attacks in Algiers on the local branch of Al-Qaeda, the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC).

"We are sure that it is the work of the GSPC," Zerhouni told a press conference.

Zerhouni put the official death toll from the twin car bombings, which devastated a UN office at 22, despite estimates from hospital sources that more than 60 people had been killed.
