According to government administrator Sagar Mani Parajuli, the bus went off the road and rolled for another 300 metres (990 feet).

Residents and police pulled out the bodies and the injured from the wreckage near Melkharka village on Sunday.

The road is narrow with hairpin bends and the visibility was poor because of morning fog.

Bus accidents in Nepal are generally blamed on poorly maintained roads and public vehicles.
