'Nimalendera', a famous cinema hall located near the birthplace of slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran in the northern Jaffna peninsula, has been completely gutted in a fire.

The cinema hall in Velvettithurai, the birthplace of Prabhakaran, was gutted in a fire that broke out on Friday, reports said on Sunday.
Police said a short circuit caused the fire. However, Jaffna Municipal council fire brigade along with the Gemunu Hewa Regiment and police were able to control the spreading of the fire to other buildings in the area, they said.
No injuries have been reported in the incident.
