US police say a gunman has been shot and killed near the campus of North Carolina Central University in Durham.

US police say a gunman has been shot and killed near the campus of North Carolina Central University in Durham.
Durham police said they had tracked a suspect thought to be armed onto the campus late Monday, prompting officials to lock down the school about 10.15pm.
Police said the man was subsequently found in woods around 1am on Tuesday.
The university's police chief, Tim Bellamy, said the man challenged officers with a gun and they fired. The man's name has not been released.
Police say the gunman was not a student. The State Bureau of Investigation has taken charge of the case.
