Japan will resume bilateral talks with North Korea on normalising diplomatic relations in Beijing this weekend as part of the six-nation process for disarming Pyongyang, reports said Friday.

The countries have yet to normalise bilateral ties due partly to Pyongyang's abduction of Japanese nationals in the 1970s and 1980s.

Japan's Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura said informal talks will be held in China on Saturday and Sunday, while another report said working-level talks will be held in Beijing on Saturday, citing government sources.
