Low intensity blast injures two in Lahore

Two people were injured when a low-intensity blast occurred in a shrine in this eastern Pakistani city today, police said. Few people were present in the shrine of Baba Khaki Shah in Green Town area when the explosive device went off, said Superintendent of Police Zeeshan Asghar Malik.

Few people were present in the shrine of Baba Khaki Shah in Green Town area when the explosive device went off, said Superintendent of Police Zeeshan Asghar Malik.

Two persons sustained minor injuries, he said.

Rescue teams reached the spot and provided medical aid to the injured.

The aim of the persons responsible for the blast seemed to be to create panic among local residents, Malik said.

A series of low-intensity blasts have targeted cinema halls, theatres and internet cafes in Lahore over the past few months.
