Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf filed his nomination papers on Thursday to contest October 6 presidential elections, a minister said.

"President Musharraf has filed his nomination papers to contest the election which he will win Inshallah (God willing)," Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid said.
The papers were presented at the heavily guarded election commission by a delegation of senior figures including Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and several cabinet ministers and provincial leaders.
Other prospective candidates, who included a retired judge and a senior member of former premier Benazir Bhutto's party, were expected to file their nominations later on Thursday.
