Myanmar air force jet crashes: official

A Myanmar military jet has crashed due to engine failure, killing its pilot shortly after take off from the airport in the central city of Mandalay, an air force official said on Tuesday.

A Myanmar military jet has crashed due to engine failure, killing its pilot shortly after take off from the airport in the central city of Mandalay, an air force official said on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old pilot of the Chinese-made Nanchang A-5 jet died in the crash on Monday, the official told AFP.

The accident was reported in state media, even though the secretive regime rarely reveals any information about the operations of its forces.
