Protesters try to disrupt UN climate talks

Hundreds of protesters are marching toward the UN climate conference in Copenhagen in an attempt to disrupt talks on a new global warming deal. Protesters say they want to take over the global conference and turn it into a "people's assembly," Danish police said.

Danish police say hundreds of protesters are marching toward the UN climate conference in Copenhagen in an attempt to disrupt talks on a new global warming deal. Protesters say they want to take over the global conference and turn it into a "people's assembly."

Police officers are trying to keep the demonstrators from accessing the Bella Center, where envoys from 193 nations are negotiating a pact to curb global warming.

A separate group of activists from Friends of Earth are staging a sit-in protest outside the security area because they are not being allowed into the conference.
