On Thursday, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa assured National Security Advisor MK Narayanan and Foreign Secretary Shiv-shankar Menon that Lanka would soon hand over a death certificate of LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran to India.

“If the government of Sri Lanka has given a public assurance, we will go by that. We will, of course, wait for a death certificate from the government so the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case can be, sort of, closed,” Narayanan said after meeting Rajapaksa.
