Cadres of the United Democratic Terai Liberation Front (UDTLF) on Saturday morning kidnapped Brij Bihari Sukhla, a Jana Morcha Nepal candidate from the Kapilvastu district .
Sukhla was in Dohni village to campaign for the CA polls, when the militants abducted him from one of his supporters’ house at 1 pm. Raj Guru, the commander of Kapilavastu wing of UDTLF has claimed responsibility for Sukhla’s kidnapping. “We have kidnapped him (Sukhla) because of his anti-people policies,” Guru claimed.
The militants threatened to train guns at the candidates of ruling Seven Party Alliance (SPA) for their alleged “anti-Terai” policies. Police have launched a massive cordon and search operation in the area to rescue Shykla.
Meanwhile, the separatist All Terai Mukti Morcha (ATMM) and the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha have threatened to boycott the crucial the assembly polls in the 23-Terai districts. The ATMM, which is headed by Jaya Krishna Goit, has called for an indefinite bandh.
